It's Been Way Too Long

Sorry I haven't written, but I don't have my own computer yet, one is on the way however, and the touch doesn't seem to want to let me write a blog. There has been a lot of goings ons around these parts and not a lot of pictures. I found out the other day that I accidentally brought a 16mb compact flash card with me and that is all. I need one of the 1 or 2 gig flash cards sitting at the house. You will have to make do with the small number of pictures just like I have to.

I did not move at all this week, unless you count today; I am sitting at BH and DKNY's writing this blog, but that just happened. I spent the entire week and weekend at Mateo and Coriander's place. Thank goodness I have all these nice people to stay with while I find a place of my own. And speaking of looking at places I did look at another place last week, or was it two, I don't remember what I wrote in the last blog or how many I actually looked at this time. I have emailed so many people that I am beginning to lose count. The place was in Park Slope around 4th Ave. where there is a lot to do and not far from the subway line. It was with a couple, but I didn't win the popularity contest. They were choosing from everyone they met and I guess I didn't make a good enough impression. It probably would have been hard sharing one bathroom with three people too. My search continues; hopefully more will pop up in the closing week of the month. I did email 3 places today, now I wait to hear.

Ice came with me to see the apartment on Tuesday and we got some dinner and drinks after, where Joel also came to join us. The burger was supposed to be some great burger, but I would have to say it was a little dry and not that great. Zip's and Quatman's are much much better. Wednesday night was another debate night, so of course I had to watch. BH, DKNY, Mateo, Coriander, when she was finished with school, and of course me, all watched the debate together and had some homemade Indian food.

Thursday was a low key night, I think, I can't remember that far back. Nothing is sticking out in my mind so it couldn't have been too eventful if something did happen. Friday after work I went shoe shopping with CB Radio; of course I bought some shoes, I couldn't help myself. Actually CB Radio and I bought the exact same pair. Well not the exact same pair to share, we wear different shoe sizes, but the same style of shoe. I'm sure that is not something I should be spending money on, but too late now. After our shoe shopping expedition we met up with Goose at Enid's for some dinner and drinks. Goose didn't drink, but CB Radio and I did. Goose happened to run into DKNY on his way to Enid's as well. It just so happened that he was also going there to meet some friends. And so that made it three times in one week at Enid's for me.

Saturday evening was a night of bowling. Yes, you heard, or read, me correctly, bowling. I haven't been bowling in about 2 years I would guess and everyone was up for it so why not. When Goose, CB Radio and I got to the bowling alley, way down in Brooklyn, TB, Ice and Joel were already there. They were sitting at the bar talking to the nice bartender. He was quite a character talking and talking and talking. He just kept telling us stories, but at least he was also giving us some free drinks.

We finally got our lane, after trying to walk away from the bartender for 5 minutes, and began the bowling extravaganza. We bowled two games, which with 6 people on one lane takes a little bit of time, but hey that is how you get your money's worth right. It is all about time not games played right? Goose won both games with a 128 and 129 respectively. I came in third and then second. My first game wasn't so good, I just bowled an 87, but I picked it up in game number two with a 120.

Sunday was another hike in upstate New York. This time we went to Hudson Highlands State Park. It was supposed to be 9 of us going on the hike in the beginning, but by the time the hike rolled around it was only four. CB Radio, Goose, DKNY and myself were the only ones left standing in the end. Mateo was sick and Coriander stayed home with him and made some stew for that night, Joel and Ice overslept, and BH dropped a mirror on her foot a couple of days earlier and couldn't walk very well, much less go on a hike. The hike was much more intense than the one two weeks ago. We climbed about 1000 feet in a mile or a mile and a half. The views at the top were amazing though. You could see West Point and in the far far distance Manhattan. It was really far away, but you could still see it. All of the leaves were starting to change color which was very relaxing, especially with the cool crisp clean air.

This leads me back to today, since nothing happened yesterday, and my move to Living in Sin part II, soon to become Living in Sin part I. Mateo and Coriander were nice enough to help me with all my baggage on the three block hike as well. When I finally find a place of my own it will have to be dinner for all who allowed me to stay with them. I hope you all choose wisely, think McDonald's.

On a Cincinnati note, I sold my car, well Ando did. He did all of the showing of the car and negotiating of price, but technically it was still selling my car. He also had to run around to a bunch of places trying to get my title notarized since no one seemed to want to do it since I wasn't around, but that is why I got the power of attorney before I left. He finally had to just go to the title office and of course they did it right away. It all worked out in the end, but I felt bad for making Ando do all that work. Our house is also now officially on the market. If you know of anyone who would like to buy a nice house in Pleasant Ridge let me know. You should be able to go to any Realtors website and look up our house listing, complete with pictures.

I haven't written a blog in quite some time; it isn't because I have been going to the "baby on the way" doctor.

Fun Times

Well I have been without internet since Tuesday at Goose and CB Radio's and I don't have enough time to blog at work. I am now at Mateo and Coriander's place where there is internet abound! I don't have many pictures to share with you this time around, but a lot has happened in the last week. Get ready for a long blog.

Last week I started my new job at Galison, with CB Radio, and so far so good. I feel bad because I am asking so many questions, but that is what happens when you start a new job. I just hope I can slowly stop asking so many questions.

Saturday night Goose and I headed to the East Village to meet up with TB, Mateo, Coriander, BH and DKNY. We hit up a couple of bars and just hung out while drinking some beer. There was one bar we went to that we had to stand behind the cone when outside. We were standing and barely on the other side of the cone, but the bouncer kept telling us to get on the other side of the cone. I'm not sure what the cone did, but we followed the rules.

Sunday I went hiking at Harriman State Park in upstate New York. Coriander had her mom's car for the weekend so she drove Mateo, BH, DKNY and myself up to the park. It was a beautiful day for a hike and the park was really nice too. There were no real trails just some markers you had to follow to stay in the right direction. You could walk however you wanted to get to the next marker. I love being able to hike and not have to walk in a single file line. I'm pretty sure I was a fifth wheel on the hike, but that is the price soon to be family has to pay. Sorry guys.

This week was my first full work week. I also got a paycheck this week; it was small, but hey a paycheck is a paycheck. I had to deposit the check into my new bank account as well. I haven't had to deposit a real check in 5 years; what a weird situation for me to be in again. Don't worry though I am getting my direct deposit set up.

On Thursday night I brought CB Radio with me to look at a sublet in Williamsburg, but of course when I called to tell her I was there to see the place she said that she already gave the place away to someone else. I even told her to call or email me if anything changed about the apartment or time in which I was supposed to see the place, but I guess that was a little too much to ask. After the apartment fiasco, and dinner at Goose and CB Radio's, I moved to Mateo and Coriander's place. They aren't very far apart from each other, but I didn't feel like wheeling 2 suitcases and 3 bags the 8 or 10 blocks that it is. I got a car and told him where I needed to be dropped off, but he proceeded to pass the place up. I made him turn around and then paid the guy and went into Mateo and Coriander's. When I was inside I counted my change and figured out that he gave me too much change back. It was supposed to be a $7 ride and I gave him a $2 tip which means I should have had $11 left from my twenty, but I had $16 left. I only paid $2 for the ride and gave him a $2 tip; pretty sweet deal!

Friday night was the New York Magazine 40th birthday party. TB got all of us in for free, well BH and DKNY paid to get in, and we were VIP no less. We were in a special section, where we couldn't mingle with the common folk, with free drinks and appetizers and pastries. This is what living the New York life is all about right? It was an awesome show, but some of us had too much to drink of the free alcohol. We never made it to a bar after the show like we were planning on.

And I never made it back to Mateo and Coriander's to sleep either. I forgot the keys to the apartment at my work that night and luckily found out before I said bye to everyone. I would have been screwed if I would have found out later, especially since my phone died earlier that night. Teed's worst nightmare come true. BH and DKNY were kind enough to let me sleep on the air mattress for the night.

In the morning I had to go get the keys to work from CB Radio and then head into Manhattan to retrieve the keys. Mind you I was doing all this in the same clothes I had on the whole day yesterday. I finally found the keys at work and headed back to the apartment where I could change clothes and finally do a little relaxing. What an event that I was not prepared to make.

Now I am sitting alone in this apartment typing this blog for all of you. It is a brief summary of my first week or I guess 10 days in the big city. I hope you all enjoy the blogs to follow, but they may not be quite as eventful as this one.

I lost the keys to the apartment; no baby on board to make me extra emotional during the ordeal.
