I decided to start a blog....well, because I could. Everyone else has a blog about their life so why can't I. My life is exciting/boring and now everyone will know about it.

Honeymoon-Day 1 Flight
It has been a week since Ando and I got back from our honeymoon so it seemed like a good time to post a new blog. Ando and I went to the Mediterranean for 12 days for our honeymoon. I feel like this post could go on and on and on so I am going to break it up by days and I will do my best to post a new blog everyday.
We were flying out of JFK to Paris and then to Barcelona on Air France, but of course once we got to the airport our flight was delayed from 11:30pm to 1:45am. This meant that we would be missing out connecting flight in Paris, so we needed to go find the Delta counter to try and rebook our second flight before checking into the first. We had to wait in line for about 30 minutes before we could talk to a Delta agent about a new flight because of the family ahead of us in line. They were upset because the six of them were not sitting together on an overnight 8 hour flight. From what I gathered they were each sitting two and two near each other, but not completely together. The mom was very upset that she couldn't sit with her children, who by the way were all over the age of 25. I couldn't believe that I was waiting in line for a real problem behind some people that just didn't like their seats. They finally gave up and realized they wouldn't win and let Ando and I have our turn.
We were booked on a later connecting flight from Paris to Barcelona and were now able to check into the 1:45 Air France flight. When we checked in we each received a $12 voucher for food since our flight was delayed. Ando and I headed to the bar since we still had a bunch of time before our flight took off. We were told that we could use the vouchers on alcohol, but when I tried to pay for our drinks with it I was foiled. Oh well, I was still going to get a drink before the flight anyway. So Ando and I had $24 that we needed to spend on some delicious airport food! We ended up each getting a water and a bag of chips along with some Reese's Cups. We still had some money left over so we got some pringles, wasabi peas and dried mango slices to take with us on the plane.
The flight was pretty uneventful except for the fact that it took them forever to dim the cabin. All I wanted to do was try and sleep, but the lights in the plane were not going off. And yes we got some of those eye mask cover things, but I really can't stand those. They don't block all of the light out; I can still see some light coming in around my nose region, and that bothers me to no end. I just keep opening my eyes looking at that light because I know it is there. Once we ate, I got the beef option with wine, I just tried to sleep the rest of the flight away. I did pretty well, but I kept waking up every 30 minutes or so to readjust positions.
We finally made it to Barcelona at about 7:30pm, or 1:30pm NYC time and headed for the subway to get to our hotel room. There was no need to go through customs in Barcelona either. We just picked up our luggage and headed outside; very weird I thought. The ticket buying process for the subway was a bit confusing, but Ando and I had thought we finally figured it out and bought a 10 ride pass that we could use between us for the trip. It all seemed to be going smoothly until we tried to exit to switch trains and our pass wouldn't work. We were stuck in the subway system, we couldn't even get out! Finally we "kind of talked" to a guy about letting us out through the gate because our pass wasn't working, but we had to buy a whole new ticket. That was 8 rides that just went down the drain and we have no idea why. We never did figure it out.
So, we finally made our transfer, and by this time I was sweating beyond belief and carrying a suitcase with me up and down stairs. I just wanted to be at our hotel and get some real resting in. To make a long story short, we finally found our hotel; thank goodness it was a high rise that we could see from the street and just walk towards. When we did arrive at the hotel it was so late that they had given away all the room types that we booked and had to upgrade up for free, darn. We ended up with a suite that had two bathrooms a jacuzzi tub, bedroom and living room; quite the hotel room, especially for Europe.
That night we just did some relaxing in our room and went down to the hotel lobby for a light bite and drinks. It wasn't much, but we were beat from a full day of traveling.
Ando and I spent lots and lots of hours on a plane; we didn't join the mile high club and create a little Shando.
