Marco Island

I have now been back from vacation for a couple of days, but just haven't found the time to blog. Since I am off work today I thought this would be the perfect time.

Last Sunday Ando and I went down to Marco Island, FL for a week. We had a free place to stay thanks to the generosity of the DT's. They also were nice enough to pick us up from the airport. They left to drive down on Saturday and picked us up from RSW on their way down to the house. Very convenient and nice!

Not much happened during the week as you may imagine for a beach vacation. Most days consisted of hanging out by the beach from late morning to early afternoon and then going back to the house for some lunch. After lunch it was some hanging out in the pool, one day that wasn't even nice because the pool was so warm; it was like taking a bath. And then having dinner or going out to eat at night. A nice relaxing vacation was just what I needed.

CV also came over from Ft. Lauderdale for a couple of days to join in our relaxing times. She also brought her new BMW convertible, very nice, which I got to take for a little spin. I could get used to driving a car like that. I just need to move to a warm climate to get the most out of a car like that.

Ok, now for some other little details since I got all the broad ones out of the way. One day we all headed to the Everglades for a change of pace. We got to see some wildlife and of course some alligators. Since we came into the park from the west side there weren't as many hiking trails, those are mostly on the east side, but we still did a few trails and drove on a dirt road through some of the Everglades. This is where we saw a majority of the alligators. DT wanted to take an air boat ride, but then found out how expensive they were and changed his mind. I also would have liked to take and air boat, but wasn't going to force anyone. In the end we didn't take the air boat and pretty much regretted the decision later on, how very Ando.

Another day the sea-doo's came out for some fun. There were two sea-doo's at the house for our enjoyment, along with a boat and scooters. We never took the boat out, we were too afraid of wrecking it, and one of the scooters wouldn't work either. These are side notes though because I was talking about the sea-doo's. Ando and DT got them out, which takes a very long time, you have to hook them up and lower them into the water and then getting out to the ocean takes some time because you can't go fast back in the canals. The boys picked us up at the beach on their sea-doo's and we rode along with them. Ando needed to head to our beach spot for some sunscreen reapplying so I took the sea-doo out on my own. It is much easier to drive than to be a passenger. I didn't know when a bump was coming and was just hold on for dear life when Ando was driving. The see-doo's were fun and I'm glad the boys did all the work to get them out.

Some other side notes of the trip: I have decided I am a fan of raw oysters. I had them twice on the trip and loved them both times; raw clams on the other hand are not so good. I also ran into a closed sliding glass door. It was quite a moment and I wasn't even drunk. I really did it because TD did it earlier in the week and I didn't want her to feel like she was sticking out. I also climbed a ladder to try and get some coconuts down from one of the trees in the back of our house. I rigged up a tool and everything, but in the end it didn't work and I was just too short. DT had to get up on the ladder and get some coconuts down. He was tall enough that he could just reach up and pull some down.

The trip was good, but now I won't be taking another vacation for the rest of the year. I may be able to take a long weekend at some point, but that will be all. I hope I can deal with working that many weeks in a row. My blogs may also seem boring from now on, sorry!

I drove a see-doo; big no-no if you're pregnant, guess that means I'm not.
